Obituary For Robert D. Cochrane

Robert D. Cochrane, 67 of North Providence, RI passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 23, 2025, after a decades-long battle with lung disease.

Robert was born to Charles Cochrane Sr. and Barbara J. Cochrane; The brother of Charles Cochrane Jr.(Jennifer Cochrane), the late Jacalyn Despirito (Bill Depirito), and the late Christopher Cochrane.

Born in Norfolk Virginia Robert was a near lifelong resident of Bristol, RI, and the East Bay.

Robert married his sweetheart, Delores Cochrane (Dasilva) in 1976. Through their 48 years of devoted and loving marriage, Robert and Delores raised two Sons, Robert Cochrane Jr. and Dylan Cochrane. Robert was also the proud Grandpa of Robert Cochrane III, Nathan Cochrane, Andrew Fothergill, Bradley Durand, and Father in-law to Robert Jr's wife, Sherry Cochrane.

Robert was known by all who knew him as a kind and gentle soul; completely devoted to his family, and the belief that a family’s love can weather all hardship. Robert was encouraging, thoughtful, and generous to a fault.

Robert loved being in nature, camping, fishing, playing his guitar, and especially enjoyed New England clam boils! He had an avid interest in history, philosophy, and science. Robert held his faith in God, and in the belief that our family will be together again in Paradise.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Friday, May 2nd at St Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol RI.

The family would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Elmhurst Nursing and Rehabilitation, and to the MICU staff of Rhode Island Hospital for their genuine empathy and excellence of care in treating Robert over the years.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Lung Association as a contribution in his memory.
