Maj. Onofiro “Niffy” J. Andrews, USAF ret., 92, of Bristol, RI passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025. A son of the late Henry and Rosa (Barbetto) Andrews and the beloved husband of Carolyn (Pasqua) Andrews, Niffy was a lifelong resident of Bristol.

Niffy was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School and Florida State University. He went on to serve for 20 years in the US Air Force as a fighter pilot. During his service, Niffy was on nuclear alert during the Cuban Missile Crisis, flew fifty-one missions in Vietnam, lived in France, England, and Japan, attended the Fighter Weapons Instructors Couse at Nellis AFB, and taught jump school in the Air National Guard. After retiring from the military, Niffy owned and operated an AAMCO Transmissions franchise in Warwick, RI for 20 years.

In addition to his beloved wife Carolyn, Niffy is survived by his daughter, Michelle Andrews and her husband Clark Cornwell of TX; his sons, Jason Andrews and his wife Jessica of ME and Peter Andrews and his wife Jennifer of MT; and his grandchildren, Ruby and Theo Cornwell, Eric, Kara and Maia Andrews, and Avery, Owen and Emry Andrews. He was the brother of the late Harry, Frank, John, and Tom Andrews.

Arrangements are with Family’s Choice Cremation, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI 02885. Upon Niffy’s request, there will be no services.
