Obituary For Louis J Montecalvo

Louis “Louie” J. Montecalvo Sr. beloved father, husband, brother and friend, sadly passed away Thursday November 16, 2023. He is survived by his children, Tara Montecalvo, Louis Montecalvo Jr., Sydni Philips and Tyler Curry; his wife Tanya Philips; his siblings Louisa and Saverio Montecalvo; and his grandson Antonio Montecalvo.

He was preceded in death by his parents Saverio and Grace (Parrillo) Montecalvo, as well as his oldest brother Joseph Montecalvo.

Louie was born in Providence, RI; and was a life-long RI resident. He was a very proud and protective father who offered his unwavering support to his kids and wife to follow and reach their goals and dreams.

He met his life challenges with a stubborn flair all the while maintaining a pure and giving heart. He knew no strangers; for to him, a stranger was just a friend that he had not talked to yet. In his eyes all were equal.

He loved everything about muscle cars and motorcycles; and could identify them just by their sounds from miles away. In the spring and summer he loved gardening and created the best dishes from the fruits of his labors for his family and friends to enjoy. During the fall and winter he could be found outside often helping neighbors with their raking or snow shoveling.

He loved going to the beach and listening to his favorite tunes with his family. Louie loved his family and friends, far and near, and missed those who were no longer with him with all of his heart.

He blessed all of those he touched and will be missed dearly.

Arrangements are with Family’s Choice Cremation, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI. There will be a Celebration of Life on November 25th, 2023 for his close family and friends. At this time, no public services are planned. For tributes, please visit: www.familyschoicecremation.com.

I had the pleasure of working with Louie at HERTZ unfortunately only for several months. But he was the kind of guy were you felt like you had known him for years because he treated you like you have been. Very funny and personable kind hearted and friendly. we had some good laughs talking about what ever. He would tell some stories of his younger days. some about his bouncer days. He also mentioned his brother a lot and his daughter. he spoke of them both and with love and admiration . He really tired to keep working even though his health was declining. Every one at Hertz who knew him all felt saddened when we received the news. Sorry he is gone and sorry for your loss.-Joe
