Obituary For Lawrence O. Bastanzi

Lawrence O. Bastanzi, 82, of Fall River, MA passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. A son of the late Quinto A. and Lillian (Lamora) Bastanzi, the stepson of the late Michael Turillo, and the beloved longtime companion of Elizabeth “Betty” Manna, Lawrence was a longtime resident of Rhode Island prior to living in Fall River.

Lawrence was a proud veteran and Gold Star Son who served his country for many years. He especially loved motorcycles, dirt bikes, and riding and almost never missed a motorcycle run. Lawrence would make the yearly ride up to Laconia every year until he was unable to. In his spare time, Lawrence loved dancing with Betty every week and was quite good. An avid outdoorsman, Lawrence really enjoyed camping, outdoor cookouts and being in the woods. He also enjoyed going to the shooting range with his sons, enjoying his favorite banana split and a Boston Crème donut and spending time with his cats.

In addition to his companion, Betty, Lawrence is survived by his sons, Heath Bastanzi and his fiancée Corry Barboza of Fall River, MA, Lawrence Q. Bastanzi of East Providence, RI and Paul Silva and his wife Maria of PA; his sisters, Patricia Palumbo and her husband Steve of Barrington, RI and Lucia Roberts and her husband Bill of NY; and his five grandchildren, Paul Daniel Silva, Christopher Silva, Maya Bastanzi, Avery Bastanzi and Edyn Bastanzi, Sarah Barboza. He was the brother of the late Michael Turrilo.

Services are with Family’s Choice Cremation, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI. A Burial service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at the Rhode Island Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 301 S. County Trail, Exeter, RI 02822 at 10:30AM.

My husband, Dan & I , went dancing with Larry & Betty and he WAS a GOOD DANCER. We also went on a cruise with them and enjoyed their Company . Larry actually met Betty at our house in RI at a Christmas party that his sister, PAT, attended. Larry certainly loved motorcycling his whole life & he & Betty visited many areas on his bike.My sincere sympathy to Larry"s Family upon his passing. Peggy Crowley
