Obituary For Kirk Paul Vermilyea

Kirk Paul Vermilyea, 66, of Warren RI, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 6, 2023,
surrounded by his loving family.

The son of Robert & Josephine (Cicchetti) and the beloved husband of Ruth (Fornari),
Kirk grew up in Dighton, MA and eventually came to settle in Warren RI where he opened his
store East Bay Consignment.

Kirk had a hearty laugh and loved to bring joy to others. He loved boating, fishing, and
drinking many cups of coffee each day.

An avid woodworker for 35 years, Kirk was known for his well-built bookcases, however cooking was
his first love. When he wasn't cooking up a storm at home by thrilling his family with his molasses
chicken and other creations, Kirk ran Cafe 136 where the locals loved to come for his delicious
gourmet hot dogs.

He always said his passion was to bring joy to others with food and that he did!

Most importantly Kirk's greatest legacy is his love, care, and concern for his family.
"Legacy is not leaving something for people, it’s leaving something in people."
Kirk's family are all left with many tender memories of big hugs, lots of silliness, "Butt Dialing" over and over and lot of love.

Kirk was always his authentic self and will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his loving wife of 35 years, Ruth, Kirk is survived by his sons:
Alexander Vermilyea of Riverside, RI and Maximilian Vermilyea of Pawtucket, RI;'
his daughters: Andrea Skidmore and her husband Michael of Warren, RI,
Amelia Vermilyea of Honolulu, HI, Elizabeth Dunham and her husband Cameron
of Portland, OR and Sofia Robinson and her husband Joseph of Uncasville, CT;
his sister Suzanne Farmer of Lincoln, RI; his cousins Adeline and Michael Staulo
and six beautiful grandsons. He was the brother of the late Mark Vermilyea.

Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI.
A private family service will be held at a later date. For tributes, please visit http://www.wjsmithfh.com

I am Kirk's brother-in-law, but he was absolutely my brother. I would always look forward to bringing my woodworking projects to the consignment shop and seeing Ruth and Kirk. Kirk would always welcome me with open arms .We would joke around and talk about our woodworking. Kirk was intelligent, loving, and an absolute family man. I will miss you my brother.LOVE Steve.
