John Fernandes, 90, of Swansea, MA, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. The son of the late John M. and Mary (Mello) Fernandes and the beloved husband of the late Lorraine (Audet) Fernandes, John was a longtime resident of Swansea.

John was a proud Navy Veteran and served during the Korean War. He worked as a Truck Driver for many years before his retirement. John went on to remain very active in the VA and was a former Post Commander and was a longtime Swansea Volunteer Firefighter for Co. 3. John got to enjoy his retirement and got to spend most of his time in Florida and would summer in Massachusetts.

John is survived by his daughter, Julianne Souza and her husband Edward of Swansea, MA; his son, Donald Morrissette of Swansea, MA; his brothers, Gerald Fernandes and his wife Mai of Land O Lakes, FL and Ronald Fernandes and his wife Patricia of Tacoma, WA. He was the brother of the late Dolores Martin and Theresa Stueve.
