John Bettencourt White, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 7,2025.

He was the devoted husband of the late Lenora “Lee” (Ranelli) White, and a son of the late Luke H. and Angie (Bettencourt) White.

He was predeceased by his loving son, Christopher J. White.

A lifelong Bristol resident, he was a 1956 graduate of Colt Memorial High School.

In his younger days, he enjoyed his “Convertibles”, especially his 1964 Corvette StingRay. He also enjoyed “Doo Wop” Music and dancing.

He worked at the former Bristol County Water Co. and the RI Veteran’s Home, for a short time. For several years John was a member of the Bristol 4th of July Committee.

He was happiest running his Antique business, The Center Chimney on State St. in Bristol which he and his wife owned for many years.

He leaves behind 2 daughters, Laurie Sinclair (Ron) and Cheryl Velleca Vecchio (Peter) and six Grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brother, Matt White (Sue), his Niece and Goddaughter, three Nephews and 15 Grandnieces and Nephews.

Arrangements are with Family’s Choice Cremation, 8 Schoolhouse Rd, Warren, RI, 02885. Calling hours are respectfully omitted, per John’s wishes. A Funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 141 State Street with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, in Bristol.
