James Michael Augustine, 64, of Bristol, RI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 8, 2022, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Cheryl Denise (Ney) Augustine; his two daughters, Stacey M. Augustine and her partner Uriah Donahue of Industry, ME, and Samantha A. Snow and her husband Travis of Little Compton, RI; a brother, David Augustine of Millbury, MA; and two grandchildren, DeShane Augustine and Sadie Snow. Born in Grafton, MA, he was the son of the late Joseph R. and Jeanne A. (Metivier) Augustine. James had worked at The Ney Hall Galley on the Newport Naval Base. He was a proud Veteran of the US Navy, and longtime communications systems engineer. He was a football fan and former captain of his high school football team. He enjoyed collecting Matchbox cars and model airplanes, watching M*A*S*H, building models, and spending time on the water in his earlier years. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, and was an avid participant in his daughters' lives; from building the Island Park Playground to attending school events, cheerleading games and dance recitals, he was always there. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, February, 19, 2022, from 1-4PM, at Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd., Warren, RI. The burial will be private.
