Irene Santos, 78, died Monday, October 5th at Rhode Island Hospital.

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Benevides) Machado. She was married to Manuel Santos Jr. for 48 years.

Irene was an ignition operator for Carol Cable and a machine operator for RJ Manufacturing, both in Warren. She was a parishioner at St Thomas the Apostle Church. She moved to Warren in 1968, coming from Fall River. She had been the President of the Gray Panthers.

Besides her husband, she leaves two nephews and four nieces.

A gathering in honor of Irene will be held Friday, October 16, 2015 at 2 pm in the chapel at Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, RI.
