Obituary For Edward Manuel Leite

Edward M. Leite, 70, of East Providence passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 in Hope Hospice Center in Providence after a long illness. The son of the late Edward H. and Louise Leite, he was a lifelong resident of the city. Following his graduation from high school, Edward went on to train as an Electrician under his father, who was a Master Electrician. He enjoyed many years in the industry until his eventual retirement. Edward was known by many as musical genius and had the gift of perfect pitch, being able to duplicate any song by ear as well as having the ability to pick up any instrument and play. A bit of a local celebrity, Edward was often seen riding his scooter around East Providence with his beloved dog, Benny, attached in his side car. People who knew them would often go out of their way to stop and wave as they sped past. Edward is survived by his two sisters, Mary Lou Hill and Mary Jane Buxaum of East Providence and his beloved nieces and nephews, Andrew Hill, Sarah Watt, and Joshua and Adam Buxaum. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, from 12-1PM in Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, with a reception to immediately follow. Arrangements are with Family's Choice Cremation, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI. For tributes, please visit

Just found out this sad news. Eddie was a neighbor and friend. Always so sweet and friendly, with an easy (and unique!) laugh. Eddie - you fought the good fight. Graciously. You will be sorely missed. Love, Anne.

Eddie came to play at our wedding in 1973 wearing a classic straw hat. One look at Eddie and the priest said to him "no Broadway hits." A found memory. Love cousin Anne and Steve
