Obituary For Charlene M. Creighton

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charlene M. (Lowell) Creighton at the age of 77. Charlene peacefully passed away at her home on September 19, 2025 surrounded by her loving family after a sudden decline in health.

Charlene was born on June 4, 1948 to the late John H. and Dorothea (Hird) Lowell.

She was born and raised in Riverside, R.I. where she enjoyed many winters sledding down Burton Avenue and ice skating on Willett Avenue pond. Charlene attended St. Brendan Catholic School and graduated from East Providence High School in 1966. Charlene went on to have a fulfilling career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, where her kind heart and gentle spirit touched countless lives.

Always compassionate, Charlene put others before herself and found true purpose in caring for all around her, especially her family who were the center of her world. Charlene was a woman with a true love of life. She enjoyed numerous trips to Maine, Disneyworld, and New Hampshire with her children and grandchildren. There wasn’t a roller coaster she wouldn’t ride. Charlene also found joy in the simple things such as tending her garden (despite dealing with a persistent woodchuck she endearingly called “Chucky”), bird watching, and cooking meals made with love. She took joy in knitting and shared her talent with the community as she placed scarves on her picket fence for anyone in need so they would not be cold. She cherished spending peaceful days on the porch at the “Salty Pines” beach house in Wells, Maine and she never passed up having ice cream for dinner, especially if it was grapenut or Indian Pudding from “Big Daddy’s”. Charlene met each day with courage as she faced life’s challenges with grace and strength.

Charlene was the sister of James Lowell and his wife Ellen of East Providence, RI, Maryann Rodrigues and her husband Daniel of North Attleboro, MA., Karen Perry and her husband David of Riverside, RI, and sister in law to Suzanne Lowell of Foster, RI. Charlene was preceded in death by her brother John Lowell.

Charlene is survived by her children: Charlene Medeiros and her husband Joseph of Warren, RI, Fred and his wife Christine of Attleboro, MA, Jeffrey and his wife Jennifer of Warren, RI, and Matthew and his wife Heidi of Middleboro, MA. She was lovingly known as “Grandma” and “GiGi” to 2 granddaughters, 6 grandsons and 6 great-grandsons.

Arrangements are with Family’s Choice Cremation, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, RI 02885. A Private Celebration of Life will be held with details to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to either the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at www.danafarber.jimmyfund.org/donations or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at https://givenow.bloodcancerunited.org, in her memory.
