Obituary For Susan Marie Fitzgerald (Henninger)

Obituary for Susan Marie Fitzgerald (Henninger) Susan Marie Fitzgerald passed away peacefully on April 26, 2021 after a hard fought battle with cancer at the age of 78. Born in Seymour, Connecticut on April 23, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Anne Henninger. After graduating from Notre Dame Academy in Waterbury, CT, her adventurous spirit took her to Washington DC where she gained employment in an art gallery and was an active volunteer with the Barry Goldwater Campaign. Later moving back to Connecticut then for the past 20 years residing in Newport, RI. Susan worked for East Bay Community Action Program in the finance department for over fifteen years retiring in August of 2020. Susan was a person who thoroughly enjoyed life and was always “game” for anything whether it was a jaunt to New Orleans or having dinner and martinis with friends. Her energy and enthusiasm for life was contagious and there was never a dull moment when you were in her company. She is survived by her daughter Tracy (Biles) Breive also of Newport RI, her grandsons, Andrew Korngiebel and Matthew Korngiebel of CT as well as several nieces and newphews. She was predeceased by her infant son Eric Biles, her beloved husband Thomas Fitzgerald and two sisters, Shirley Dunleavy and Jean Schnell. A celebration of her life will he held at a later date where a private service will be held at First Beach. Her wishes were to not be in a stuffy room filled with crying and sadness but rather smiles and laughing with the telling of many stories while overlooking the ocean she loved so much. Memorial contributions can be made to Hope Health Hospice and Palliative Care Rhode Island, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904. Arrangements are by Family Choice Cremation, 10 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, RI.
