Obituary For James R. Howe

James R. Howe, a lifelong Rhode Island resident passed to eternal rest on September 1, 2022.

He was the husband of the late Theresa (Pesaniello) Howe.

He was the son of the late Patrick and Margaret (Quirk) Howe.

Mr. Howe and his late wife were the owners and operators of Howe Jewelers in Providence and North Providence. The business was known to generations of Rhode Islanders whose important acquisitions of gold and diamonds were made there.

A lifelong sports fan, he was a repository of sports trivia, especially his beloved NY Yankees and Football Giants. A voracious reader, Mr. Howe was self taught in a wide range of subjects, especially US History and Politics. He was known to amaze many with his ability at Jeopardy.

He is survived by a son, James P. Howe of Wakefield, RI, and a daughter, Karen L. Howe of Johnston, RI. He was also the brother of the late, Marjorie Gilligan, Frederick Howe, Edward Howe, Barbara Angell, and Patricia Manfredi-Garfinkle.

His children appreciate the condolences of many family and friends.

According to his wishes services are private.
